The Asiatown IT Park is a project of Cebu Holdings, Inc..
The 24-hectare integrated mixed-use business park was
approved last April 6, 2000 by the Philippine Economic
Zone Authority Board as an economic zone, and was granted
Presidential Proclamation No. 12 last February 27, 2001 as
an Information Technology Special Economic Zone, pursuant
to Republic Act. (RA) no. 7916 as amended by RA No. 8748.
All qualified locators, developers and utility providers
may avail of the incentives under RA 7916 otherwise known
as The Special Economic Zone Act and its Implementing
Rules and Regulations. |

The park covers almost 24 hectares in
Lahug and Apas, Cebu City. It is only a mere 1.5
kilometers away from the Cebu Business Park, the biggest
master planned development in the Southern Philippines.
Cebu Business Park and Asiatown IT Park have been designed
to complement each other delivering a quality of life
and business consistent with the prosperity Cebu has
consistently delivered its settlers for centuries. |

The Asiatown IT Park is conceived as a
well-planned IT economic zone and modern trading hub with
global gateway. It envisions to attract locators in the
information technology services like software development,
content development, hardware design, research and
development services, computer-based support services and
the like. At the center of it all will be a civic
superblock where a world-class Exhibit and Convention
Center will be located, a site for a museum, library and
plazas. This creates a seat for learning, relaxation and
enrichment. Being an integrated community, the Park will
also host locators engaged in commercial, recreational,
residential, office, medical, hotel, telecommunication,
education and export trading services. |

Broadband switching capability enabling high-speed,
high-capacity and cost efficient transmission of voice,
data and video.
Satellite teleport for ultra high bandwidth network

Underground power cables, high voltage switch gears and
transformers using 23 kv lines connected to 2 main power
grids

6. Incubator and Learning
Facility
Idea Farm, an initiative of CPVDC and Ayala Internet
Venture Partners, Inc. is an incubator facility to help
nurture ideas of IT entrepreneurs for global commercial
use. The facility will offer all the support services
needed by the selected incubates.
The Department of Science and Technology will operate a
learning and training facility called Information and
Communications Technology (ICT) Learning Hub, a component
of the Departments Virtual Center for Technology
Innovation in Information Technology (VCTI-IT). To provide
quality IT courses, the VCTI-IT has forged partnership
with globally recognized leaders such as Oracle Systems,
Sun Microsystems and Cisco systems. |
